On March 12, 2020, the XXVII session of the International Assembly of Capitals and Major Cities was held at the Moscow House of Nationalities.

The Assembly is a public, non-profit association created for the socio-economic development of cities.

The objectives of the Assembly:

• creating conditions for the stable development of the urban economy in the interest of improving the living standards of their population;

• development of comprehensive cooperation between cities in the trade, economic, scientific, technical, humanitarian, cultural and social fields;

• exchange of experience and implementation of joint projects to solve urban problems.

The session was attended by the leaders of the IAH member cities, representatives of UN-Habitat, the CIS Executive Committee, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the heads of relevant committees of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, representatives of inter-city associations, scientific and expert organizations.

The federal project “Smart City” is designed to form the foundations of the competitiveness of cities, the effectiveness of the urban management system, the creation of a space for the development of citizens, and infrastructure security.

Key principles:

• preservation and strengthening of human capital;

• manufacturability of infrastructure;

• Priority quality management of urban facilities and systems;

• inclusive and safe environment;

• focus on cost-effectiveness of public service

The implementation of the Smart City project is entrusted to the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation as part of the national projects Housing and Urban Environment and Digital Economy.

The working group for the implementation of the project includes representatives of all federal and regional authorities, experts in the housing and communal services industry, leading developers of programs and technologies, the scientific community, and centers of competence.

Leading international expert, UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) Ms. Maimunakh Mohd Sharif contributed to the development of the project and the exchange of experience between heads of municipalities.

Natalina Litvinova, President of the International Committee for the Digital Economy BRICS, Presidrnt of the Global Union 2050 attended the Session of the International Assembly of Capitals and Major Cities. The Committee develops and implements projects aimed at implementing the Government's Digital Economy of Russia Program. The Committee’s expert council presented unique content in the field of data security and digital human rights at leading sites in Russia, the BRICS and the European Union.

The Assembly will continue its work on March 13, 2020 within the framework of the International Economic Forum of the CIS Member States.

The event will be attended by deputy heads of government, ministers of CIS member states, heads of the CIS Executive Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission, representatives of the state and executive authorities, the real economy, chambers of commerce, industry associations, banking communities, entrepreneurs of unions and travel industry associations, IT structures of near and far abroad countries, representatives of the media, foreign guests and partners
